St. Thomas More's Farewell to Fr. Jim Dalton

Fr. James Dalton was the forth Pastor of St. Thomas More Catholic Parish in Lynnwood Washington and came to STMP in July of 1996. Over the nearly nine years that Fr Jim was our pastor we all become like family and the news that Fr. Jim would be leaving surprised many of us.

The parishioners of STMP care for Fr. Jim a great deal and wanted to show their appreciation for his years of service by throwing a party for Fr. Jim in the parish hall. During the reception many people spoke about their memories of Fr. Jim's time at STMP and gifts were given to Fr. Jim. One gift was the Parish's decision to rename the parish hall, "Dalton Hall". Fr. Jim was not too keen on the idea of his name being used for the hall and made one request of us. That was that when we enter the hall we say a prayer.

Another gift that was given to Fr. Jim was a new car. The whole parish chipped in to buy this car for Fr. Jim and Seaview Chevrolet gave the parish a generous deal. The most amazing part of the gift was that the parishioners were successful in keeping it a secret from Fr. Jim.
