Meadowdale Beach and Park, Lynnwood WA

Meadowdale Park and Beach is part of the Snohomish County Park system. This park is located in Lynnwood and is used heavily by locals to get evening exercise and find solitude from the hustle of life.

The main feature of Meadowdale Park is a 1.25 mile trail that goes from a small parking lot along a stream though the woods and to Puget Sound. The trail has an elevation drop of 450 feet, so, it will be up hill back to your car.

What I find unique about the Meadowdale Park is that you must be willing to hike the 1.25 mile trail to enjoy this park. There is no parking near the beach. At the end of the trail you will find the Park Rangers house and a large grassy field with horse shoe pits, a sand volleyball court, a picnic shelter, picnic tables, and bathrooms with cold running water. You will also find a tunnel under the railroad tracks that gives access to the beach.

Directions to the park: From Highway 99 in Lynnwood head West on 168th St SW. At the second light turn right on to 52nd Ave W. Next turn left on to 160th St SW and then right on to 56th Ave W. Finally take a left on to 156th St SW and go to the end of the street where you will find the parking lot. Once you turned on to 52nd Ave W keep you eye out for brown park signs that look like street signs. These will assist you in getting to the park. The park closes 20 minutes after Sunset. Both the tunnel to the beach and the parking lots have gates that are locked after hours.

This is the view of the grassy park area from the end of the trail. This is the view of the park area from the east entrance of the tunnel. Walking though the tunnel this is the first view of the Puget Sound. In this picture the tide is very high. But, when the tide is low there is lots space to walk and explore the beach.

For trail lovers these tracks hare heavily traveled. Keep children and animals clear of the tracks. Here is the group I went with on this day. A fun bunch.
