Ordained a Catholic Priest in 1943 in Ireland Fr. Treacy answered the call for volunteers to minister to the many people who had moved to the United States from Ireland during World War II. Despite intending to only spend a few years in Seattle Fr. Treacy is still with us 63 years later. During Fr. Treacy's time in Seattle he has served countless people, was on television for 14 years addressing the issues of the day with a Jewish Rabbi Levine and Dr. Lynn Corson, and co-founded Camp Brotherhood with Rabbie Levine. Mt. Pilckuck Hike and SunsetThe Summer Solstice (longest day of the year) never seemed very special to me when I was growing up in Cincinnati Ohio, but, living in the Pacific Northwest the Summer Solstice marks a sunset that is five hours later than in the winter! For example for the year 2006 in Seattle the sunsets at 4:18 PM between December 6th and 16th. However, between June 20th and July 1st the sun doesn't set until 9:11 PM! I wanted to see that late sunset so we hiked to the peak of Mt. Pilchuck. I knew that the Sunset time was based on the Earth being flat and I hadn't though much about how the height of Mt. Pilchuck would change the sunset time, but, when we got to the top we discovered that 5,324 foot peak ... [There is more. Click on the title above.] Nick and Julie's Wedding ReceptionParty time! I didn't take any pictures during Nick and Julie's wedding. All of these pictures were taken at the reception. Some of the highlights are Nick's performance retrieving Julie's garter, Julie smashing cake in Nick's face and the chase that followed, and some wild dance moves. Save a horse, ride a cowboy!! Aside from holidays this was the first major event where we did not have Grandma Lonnemann with us. Grandpa held up well and Nick's parents and siblings gave a toast to Grandma outside the hall. We miss you Grandma. Family Pictures, Post WeddingI stayed in the Cincinnati Northern Kentucky area for a few days after Nick and Julie's wedding to visit with family and friends. This photo album consists of various pictures from my trip after the wedding. Note that the picture of Nate, Molly, Mom, Dad, and Grandpa with out me and Midas is a flash animation of several pictures that were taken close together of my family acting goofy. A Wedding Prayer for Nick and JulieJulie asked me to say a prayer, but, before I do that I want to reflect a bit on what a prayer before their vows symbolizes. Victoria, British Columbia, CanadaI've lived in Seattle for 7 years and have never taken the trip to Victoria Canada. On January 21st, 2006 that changed when I took the Victoria Clipper from Seattle to Victoria for an overnight trip. It is about a 2 hour ride on the Clipper up to Victoria which is a water-jet propelled catamaran. Victoria itself is a beautiful city both in terms of its layout and scenic beauty. There is no need to rent a car when visiting Victoria as the city is very walkable or try renting a bike. As you would expect at any tourist destination Victoria has plenty of shopping, but, don't miss other sits such as the Parliament Buildings and the Royal British Columbia Museum. Then of course there is the ... [There is more. Click on the title above.] |
