The development of compact aVLSI circuits for direct motor control from on-chip sensors is presented. The system is based on control and processing techniques inspired by biological systems. Neural oscillators used in this system act as a versatile interface between various modes of sensing and actuators. The system presented combines on-chip visual sensors and motor control circuits into a real-time visual tracking system.
